Well this is one more traveling chapter on my bumpy road life and no I didn’t give up the life style of a motorcycle rider but I just extended it to a four wells life style for the future and the seek for new adventures it is still there but a bit more slow, perphaps 90 km/h slower. This has been planned for a long time and it is a game changer or you can also call it a life changer. One day I was scrolling on auto ads and then in a sudden this thing appeared in front of my eyes on my computer screen and I freeze the scroll button and thought to myself “What the heck? Is this the Yellow Submarine that The Beatles were singing about all the time?” In my mind that was an instant click, and could hear the music traveling in the air! ” Yes it is dude! That is the Yellow Submarine you heard about all your life! ” so with no hesitation just had time to grab the phone and make that call to the indicated location on the auto stand site. One more time just like I did in 2013 for “Time Machine” when I was in the Mozambican bush, I was purchasing a vehicle 13.427 kilometers away from the advertising shop, not seeing it physically and crossing fingers, hoping that everything would be alright! And fortunately it did both times! But this one it was a purchase from the bush of Uganda, so it was only 8.790 kilometres away from the auto stand caravan shop with the Yellow Submarine! This is what the internet is for… To buy good things in the middle of the bush, or else it wouldn’t be as much fun! The owner of the caravan stand asked me if I was a collector and I replyed “No I’m not a collector… I just want to ride!” From what he told me this particular model is being very procured by collectors but this is not the case for me. From all the thousands of Matatus (Taxi Vans Hiace) that you see in Africa as long as it doesn’t drip oil and it came with four wheels, then it is all good to go! I have seen those matatus with adult cows inside, goats surfing on the roof, cargos that looks like an all house shift and a family of twenty inside and the van is still rocking on the road, sometimes it doesn’t but most of the time it does, just need to believe in god and the TIA factor (This is Africa) so it lasts and runs all its durable life till it breaks down in two pieces! And even then with a little workshop sessions I think it still goes! Surprisingly the price of this European matatu was not increasingly high, because it is a vehicle from 1987 (36 years) and maybe with 4 or 5 times around the clock as it only marks on the odometer, 5 digits so it can only record till 99,999 Kilometres then starting from scratch at 00,000 Kilometres again! How good is that? Always a new and fresh count just like coming out of the stand on a sunshine day! Anyway that was a complete shot in the dark and had to trust the seller from the certified caravans stand and also telling me of 1 year guarantee that made me a lot calmer the days after the buy while in the african bush. When i saw her the first time I was thrilled! Love at first sight! I was just thinking that some guy had transformed this van into a mobile house and had the same taste as me… Yellow! Yes, that real torrid yellow, as the bumblebee sucking nectar from the yellow of the sunflower! I just had to thank the previous owner for the great job done and in my mind promising to take care of the Yellow Submarine for the next adventures to come on the bumpy road of life.
